How to Care for Wilsonart Countertops

Posted by & filed under Laminate Countertops, Solid Surface Countertops, Tips and Advice.

Wilsonart countertops are a popular Twin Cities countertop material. Not only do they come in a huge variety of colors and patterns (so finding the perfect choice for your home is never a problem!), but they are also incredibly durable, which means you and your loved ones will be using them for years to come.

Proper care and maintenance are an important part of making sure your new counters last for as long as possible, so here are a few suggestions on how to keep them looking great through the years.

Solid Surface

When it comes to day to say cleaning, solid surface Wilsonart countertops need warm soapy water or a non-abrasive cleaner, like Formula 409 or some type of glass cleaner. Just be sure you rinse the cleaner off with some water and dry the counters thoroughly. This will help prevent spots, especially if your home has hard water.

There are a few different ways you can remove stubborn stains. The technique depends on the type of finish your solid surface Wilsonart countertops have:

Matte finish: Use an abrasive cleaner and a damp sponge and then buff the stain in a circular motion. Rinse and towel dry.

Satin finish: Use a mildly abrasive cleaner and a damp sponge. Rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse and towel dry.

Semi-gloss finish: Use soapy water and a white Scotch-Brite™ pad. Rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse and towel dry.

Gloss finish: Only use a mild detergent or soap or a non-abrasive cleaner with a soft cloth.

Laminate

For laminate Wilsonart countertops, you should clean them on a daily basis with water and a sponge. You can also use a mild soap or detergent if you need it. Just be sure to rinse the counters thoroughly with warm water and then towel dry.

If you are trying to get a stubborn stain off of your counters, there are a few different methods you can try. For stains like tea or coffee, use a mild cleaner or detergent and a soft bristled brush. Scrub gently and repeat as necessary until the stain is gone.
